On July 7th, 2015, I brought home a scrawny little 2010 model OTTB, named Charmer.
He raced under the name "Really a Charmer". He was a loved, and adored pet on the racetrack - more than just a racehorse. His owners wanted to ensure him a fantastic life, in a second career. That is how I got him. I am always honored and grateful that they gave me the privilege of owning him.
I gave him the show name "My Lucky Charm", and little did I know how fitting that name would be. He has always been my rock, best friend and confidant, since the first day he walked into my life.
In the fall of 2015, I got injured in a freak accident and broke my pelvis. Charmer was the first horse I sat on afterwards. He was only 4 months post-track life when I first got back on him, and he had only had 8 rides put on him since the track. And yet, he was foot perfect. He quietly helped me rehab over the winter of 2015.
Our time together has been a bit of a roller coaster of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change a single minute of it. He is an immensely talented horse, albeit opinionated and stubborn too. He constantly requires and demands precision from my rides. I strive to be the rider he deserves.

Forever one of my favorite pictures |

In the summer of 2017, I was fortunate enough to move into a horse property and for the first time, Charmer was able to live in my backyard. He has been there ever since. He has never looked or felt better than he does now, and I love seeing his kind eyes, and adorable face leaning over the fence to greet me every morning.
We attempt eventing, but largely do local schooling jumper shows for financial reasons. Eventually, I would like to turn him into a solid Novice horse in eventing, jump 3'3"+ courses in stadium, and even play in the sandbox too (if I can ever find a dressage saddle that fits him!). We have lots of big, lofty goals that we hope to accomplish someday!! But, no matter what the future holds, every single day with this horse is such a blessing to me, and I love every minute with him.
