In the summer of 2017, I worked at my local training barn as a working student. I cared for many, many horses during that time, but there were a select few that I really fell in love with. One of those horses was named Banner. A 2009 model OTTB, about 16hh, and the world's sweetest horse.
I told is owner pretty much every day that I was in love with him, and that I might steal him from her. When he left pro training, I still looked forward to seeing him, however briefly, at their lesson every week or two. I stopped working at the barn that fall, and didn't think much of him after that. Then in the early summer of 2018, I received an email from his owner, asking if I was interested in him.
I stared at the message for several minutes, just processing. It had never really occurred to me that she would actually sell him (she really loved him). And it had been a long time since I had seen either one of them, so the message was surprisingly out of the blue! For a few weeks, we messaged back and forth, figuring out the logistics. It was too good of an offer to refuse.
He came home to me on June 29tn, 2018. He is an incredibly well trained horse with loads of potential. I am hoping to turn him into my competitive horse! I plan to pursue my Bronze medal in dressage with him, along with seeing how far we can go in the event world!
Since I am a huge Marvel nerd, I will be showing him under the name "Incredible Hulk". It is kind of ironic, since he is size tiny, but I just love it as a name for him as well!
